Monday's are always sketchy.

What a crazy week it has been! Between trying to hang out with everyone before classes start back up and getting all my break to-do's done, I've been a busy gal. A big part of this crazy business was my thankyous. Ever since I could hold a pencil my parents had me write thankyous. I absolutely hated it for the longest, but now that I'm older I actually really enjoy it. I have a strange connection with letters and thankyou's. I'm not sure if this is because it's becoming a dying practice, or because there is something so tactile about receiving something in the mail. Also it always seemed so strange that people would take the time to write on a card or send you a letter, for it to just be thrown away. I think thats why I've kept every letter, card, and post cards since I was 8. I have 3 show boxes full of them. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do with them, but for now I will continue saving them. The thought of throwing them away seems so foreign now. I feel less like a hoarder knowing that those are the only things I collect.

Like most people I have the generic thankyou's you buy in a pack of 10 from target, but I also really like making them for the people who mean the most to me. Being an artist makes it a little easier to design and draw out a couple. So that's what I did! Here are a few of the cards I made for this past holiday season.

All of these were painted with guache. I used to be really timid about

it but after a friend showed me all that you could do with it I fell in Love.

I can't take total credit for the flower thankyou design. I was really inspired by

a birthday card my friend made. So I decided to make my own.

Along with getting these done, I received a post card from the lovely Kaylah from over at The Dainty Squid. I have been following her blog for awhile and really enjoy reading about her daily doings. So in return I decided to hand make her a post card to send back. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of it completely done before I rushed to get it in the mail today, but I did manage to take a picture while it was in the process.
It's fun and quirky. Plus it has cacti on it!

Any one want to be pen pals? I'll hand make you one! 

Over all it was really creative week and I'm excited to see what future projects come my way. I hope you all have a terrific week!

Monday's are always sketchy.

How is it Monday already? Wasn't it just monday?

See? This is what being on holiday from college is like. There seems 

to be no way to keep track of the days, and then they slip away from 

you. Its nice, but I'm starting to miss a regular schedule and assignments.

( Don't tell that to Kayla at the begging of break. She wont believe you.) 

Now onto what this is actually about. My weekly sketch. 

For some reason I really didn't like the pages I made this week.

 Its stupid, I know. But I didn't. 

So I decided to revisit two older ones that seemed fitting. 

Don't ask me why there fitting. I couldn't tell you.

The page on the right is in direct response to having Gluten issues. 

After about a year, I have been doing really well at avoiding the horrid stuff,

but sometimes the little buggers just sneak in and I'm down for a week.

It gets really old. I'm learning how to combat it, but its a slow endeavor sometimes.  

I don't know what the flowers were all about, but thats okay. Flowers are artsy... Right?

The page on the left contains a picture I took from my Thanks Giving trip to New York.

Oh my goodness was New York amazing! It was nothing like I expected. It was 10 times better! 

Like every stereotypical tourist I saw your generic sights. 

(as well as some not so generic)  

This particular photo was of the tree in Rockefeller Center.

Hence the title "They lied about the Tree." 

I was actually really disappointed by the tree. It's big I suppose, 

but I also live in Colorado. It could have just been

swallowed up by the Gorgeous buildings. I may never know.  

Juxtaposed, the photos have no connection, 

but seem contain the same emotion. 

I'm not exactly sure how that happens, but it does. 

And there's something beautiful about that.

Even though I barely realized it was Monday, 

I hope you all had as great a weekend as I did.

P.s. I only have ten pages left in my sketchbook, and I absolutely 

CANNOT

wait to start the next one! 

Monday's are always sketchy.

I suppose this is my very first ever post. Ever. 

Kind of a daunting task, but I'm up to it! 

A large majority of my life revolves around art. 

I eat, sleep, read, experience, look at, and make art. 

I big part of this for me is my sketch book. 

I used to be super intimidated by the sketch books of others. 

Then I saw a friends. Her sketch book was so loose and 

artistic. She drew, ripped out pages, painted, modgepodged the holy 

heck out of that thing. Some how that made me feel less stuck 

in thinking that each page had to be a perfect drawing. 

So I started out about a year ago. I made one, and have never looked 

back! It was slow going at first but I think I've finally found 

my sketch book niche. While this is the case,

 I'm still really inconsistent.

That is why I will be doing a weekly post of some pages. 

I was pretty lame last week so I only have one. It's pleased with it though.

Her work is so fun and whimsical, as well as being a bit Macabre. 

Regan Roseburg's multilayered pieces are so incredible.

Last but not least. Mr. Mark Rothko! I can't help

but be blown away by his paintings. This particular

one was the last piece he made before he died! Can't

you see his feelings?

Today is also my 20th birthday, which is pretty exciting. I'm one of those people 

that justifies purchases by saying "It's for my birthday" even when its not.

But this time it actually was. I ordered this awesome bro tank with a 

caption that says "spawn till you die". I'm absolutely in love! 

So much so that I may have worn it two day's straight..... maybe. 

Hopefully sometime this week I can incorporate it into a fashion post!

That way it can be see for all its glory. I ordered this beauty from Ray Troll.

He's an Alaskan artist that specializes in fish puns. He really catches my sense of humor.
